Abbe Reed, MT-BC—Music Therapist

Abbe Reed has been providing Music Therapy for more than 6 years. She received her Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy from State University of New York at Fredonia and is Board Certified. In 2010, Abbe has made presentations to the annual conferences for NCSHLA and NCACA. Abbe has extensive experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities and mental health diagnoses, including Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, William’s Syndrome, Schizophrenia, Alzheimer’s Disease, and Dementia. Dreamweavers received the Outstanding Provider Award for 2008 for its Music Therapy Program.

 

Laura Hancock, MT-BC—Music Therapist

Laura Hancock
Laura Hancock, Board Certified Music Therapist, received her first undergraduate degree in Communications/Psychology from Baldwin Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. After 9 years of performing and teaching music, Laura pursued a Music Therapy degree and graduated from Queens University of Charlotte Music Therapy Program in 2010.  She completed her internship at Dreamweavers, and continued employment with Dreamweavers after graduation. Laura has experience working with individuals with Autism, Down Syndrome, Hearing Impairments, Traumatic Brain Injury, Mental Health Disorders, Dementia and Alzheimer’s. Laura provides Infant-Toddler services and Music Therapy for individuals and groups in Mecklenburg County.

 

Shu-Ling Huang, MT—Music Therapist

Shu-Ling Huang
Shu-Ling Huang received her Bachelors of Music in Music Therapy with a concentration in Psychology from Queens University of Charlotte. Prior to graduation, Shu-Ling completed an internship at Dreamweavers. She has clinical experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities, delays and other diagnoses, including Autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Language and Learning Delays, Anxiety, Depression, Alzheimer’s Disease, Dementia, Cancer and End-of-Life patients. Other than English, Shu-Ling also speaks Chinese well and has experience working with children who speak Spanish. Shu-ling is currently pursuing her infant-toddler certification and her Music Therapist License, and provides Infant-Toddler services and Music Therapy in Gaston, Cleveland, Rutherford, and Mecklenburg Counties.
